Hi! What is this page about?

On this page, I (Lisa) write about writing a book about colors in data visualizations, daily.

Weird. Why are you doing that?

A few reasons!

  1. When blog authors become book authors, their blog normally becomes abandoned for a year or so. This won't happen to the Datawrapper blog thanks to my coworkers. But I think it's nice to be present, and writing a book is an exciting project I'm excited to report about.
  2. I want to share goodies (good tools, good papers) with you when I find them, not in an undefined number of months when the book finally comes out.
  3. The updates let me reflect on what I achieved during each day and what to tackle next.
  4. I made good experiences with writing daily updates (I've done so in 2014 and 2016).

But why are you using Notion for this page? Doesn't Datawrapper have an awesome blog?

Aw, thanks for the compliment! Notion is a tool that we at Datawrapper are using internally as a wiki/todo tool. I have it open every day anyway, so there's no big overhead for me writing down some thoughts at the end of the day.
